The design links the architectural and political past of the “Eastern Party”. Both are exposed to a process of transformation: The building becomes an architectural and political journey through time that includes the past and the future. Plattenbau and PDS are both the offspring of a failed vision and a corrupted idea of modernity, at the end of which there was only architectural banality or the politics of petty-bourgeois totalitarianism. The chosen architectural context and its history are both stigma and opportunity. They force you to come to terms with things and to reorient yourself. The building is a metaphor for this necessary process: it frees itself from the rigidity of a found principle, dissolves it, becomes open and multilayered. If architecture was lined up to now, in the future it will be in motion - if on the one hand there was the dreariness of grey anonymity, on the other hand colour becomes known: monotony is replaced by pluralism.
