séquence d´entrée - Design of a cinema facade

The CINENOVA Arthouse-Kino is one of the most renowned cinematic cultural sites in Cologne. The hidden urban location in the middle of a heterogeneous industrial park made it necessary to create a special “address” and appropriate route to the cinema. As a harbinger of the inner cinema atmosphere with its colour canon and the circular motifs that are often used there, oversized golden signets mark the front edge of the building and indicate the cinema from a distance. From here, the visitor is accompanied by red backlit info buttons on the way to the main entrance. The scene works subtly with associations with the 1950s illuminated advertising for nightlife spots: a touch of solemnity and amusement, used sparingly and yet striking in its effect.
